Load pan for the SMS Scale, galvanised. The plate that goes between the scale and the hive. The zinc layer protects the steel from rust even where it gets scratched.

What the pan is for

The pan is the plate that sits between the scale and the hive. It spreads the hive’s weight evenly across the load cells, which keeps the readings accurate, and it protects the frame from the hive floor. All versions fit every SMS Scale model — the only difference is the material.

Which one to choose

Wood is the cheapest and sits naturally under a wooden hive. Powder-coated and galvanised steel both handle weather well and are the usual choice. Stainless steel lasts the longest and tolerates washing and stronger cleaning agents — worth it if the scale stays outdoors year-round.
