Solar panel 5 V / 3 W

A small panel that trickle-charges the scale battery from daylight. It will not replace a charger after a deep discharge, but it offsets the scale’s daily draw well enough that in most seasons the battery never runs down.

Fitting it

Mount the panel facing south, tilted, and clear of shade from trees and hives. Even a small shadow across the cells cuts the output sharply.
